Beyond Time: Antonia Eiriz, Juan Sánchez, and Pedro Vizcaíno
Artists Antonia Eiriz, Juan Sánchez, and Pedro Vizcaíno each have an art practice that contemplates alternative states of being. The exhibition Beyond Time uses paintings, work on paper, and assemblage works to investigate ways in which the human experience can be rendered through allusions to the figure.
Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara: nos encontramos
Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara (b. 1987, Havana) is a Cuban performance artist and activist now based in Miami, Florida. After the Cuban government issued Decree 349 in 2018, a law that allows government officials to forcibly censor art, Alcántara co-founded the Movimiento San Isidro (the San Isidro Movement) to advocate for freedom of expression in Cuba. Through the years, Alcántara shined a light on human rights violations affecting creative communities in Cuba, creating performance pieces and participating in protests that, in 2021, led to a five-year jail sentence.
Libertad
This sweeping, permanent exhibition spans the first and second floors of the Freedom Tower, immersing visitors in Miami’s story as a city built by waves of resilience and opportunity. Through immersive digital installations, inspiring community testimonials, and preserved historic artifacts, Libertad captures the journeys of those who found refuge and began new lives in Miami.
Languages of Migration
Housed within the Freedom Tower’s Kislak Center, this permanent exhibition explores the evolution of communication, migration, and identity across time and place. Drawing from the extraordinary Kislak Collection, donated by Jay I. Kislak, Languages of Migration pairs rare, historic works with powerful contemporary art.
